THANKS.
TO THE EDITOR. ■ SIR,—! beg to return my sincere thanks to the gentlemen who Availed on me yesterday, requesting me to allow myself to be nominated for a seat in the Borough Council, but, in declining, I do so on the. grounds that in the present muddled state of affairs of the Borough Council, Ido not think it Avould be safe on my .part, as I should not be able to cope with the present difficulty that they have got, themselves into. But I have no hesitation in, saying that if Mr Mace comes forward again, which I believe he intends to do, he Avill make, sure of a quiet walk over, as the course is in capital order now, owing to drain pipes having been put down to drain those very shady places. I have no doubt tfaat*Mr:Mace will support the new scheme that I have heard a little talk about, and have one side of Bedford street pathway laid down with linoleum, as reports say that they will try and get the present contractor to do it.—l am, &c., James Lett.
