FATAL ACCIDENT AT MOMAHAKI.

+ Mr Michael Sweeney, school teacher at Messrs Hearn and Kennedy’s private school, was killed at Momahaki this morning, by being thrown or falling off his horse. The body when found by Mr Reid, of Waverlcy, was lying on the horse track near the side of the main road. It was warm, but life was extinct, and it was conveyed to Wavcrley. There was no blood or bruises to be seen on it, and it is thought the neck was broken. Deceased was a single man, about forty years of age, very steady, and much liked by those who knpw him. It was then the trucks got off. The.wagons must have jumped from sleeper to sleeper, many of which are cut in two, and a great many axle boxes and springs broken, while on the next end of the bridge about ninety feet of the track has been stripped of sleepers, all of which are heaped up together. Some of the rails are twisted and broken. The train was stopped before the passenger cars got on to the bridge. A gang of men were soon set to work to clear away the wreck and repair damages. Carriages were sent from B.runnerton for the passengers. The train to which the accident happened was very full of passengers.
