(prom our own correspondent.) , I Wednesday, ; The monthly sitting of the R.M. Court was held at Waverloy on Monday, sth inst., Capt. Wray,-R.M., and G. S. Bridge Esq., J.P., presiding. The cases forbearing were/unusually numerouss the Court being occupied from 11 a.m. fill 5 p.m., and a further adjournment till Tuesday being then necessary. The following cases were disposed of : G. Marshall and I. Bailey, charged by Constable Lyster with discharging firearms in a public place ; this being the first offence, the defendants were cautioned, S. Caldwell, charged with being drunk and disorderly in Waverley street ; fined £1 and costs £1 3s. C. Dempsey, charged with selling spirits, being,unlicensed ; this case was dismissed, there being not sufficient evidence to support the charge. C. Dempsey, charged with assault ; fined £2 and costs. W. Glentworth and J. Wilcox brought up in custody charged with breaking, into and entering the cellar of the Commercial Hotel ahd stealing 1 bottle of whiskey and 1 bottle of porter. Remanded till Tuesday, 4 p.m. A number of civil cases were then disposed of. Glentworth and Wilcox were again brought up on Tuesday before Mr G. S. Bridge, J. when Wilcox was acquitted and Glentworth committed to take his trial at the next sitting of the Supreme Court at Wanganui. : The body of the unfortunate man, Henry Mead, who was drowned in a lake on Mr Allan Johnston’s property, Waitotara, on Saturday last, was recovered on Tuesday at about 3 p.m. Tire lake being very deep, and the bottom consisting of soft mud, with numerous snags, rendered the dragging exceedingly difficult. Parlies have been out in canoes, however, ever since the accident/ and every’effort to recover the body was made, with no success until one of the party succeeded in dragging the body to the surface by means of a schnapper hook. The inquest takes place this day (Wednesday), at 1 p.m. ,
