The Council meeting was presided over by Sir Bryan O’Loghlen, Premier, the Governor being absent owing to the illness of the Marchioness of Nommnby. SYDNEY, This day. The third cricket match between the English and Australian teams, commences here to-day. The greatest interest is taken in the contest. This morning a youngster, just old enough to tottle about, strayed away from its home, near Poverty Flat, to the cliffs overhanging the lower part of the river, and-was found by Mr W. (Jowern as it wasiin close proximity to the overhanging precipice. The child was not old enough, to understand or be able to give answer to any question addressed to it, and it was only after numerous enquiries Mr Cowern was able to ascertain the locality of the truant’s home.
