FREEMAN R. JACKSON'S FORTNIGHTLY STOCK REPORT .
I have held two sales daring the past fortnight. The yards were filled with useful stock, but owing to the continued dry weather it is almost impossible to place them. Prices rule considerably lower than those of fourteen days agoj but should rain soon come I have no doubt but that they will rally again. Competition for sheep fit for boiling down is keen, any offering meeting a good market; and with this exception bidding is very dull. Cattle—At Manaia about 300 head were yarded, and one-third sold—Yearlings, £2 12s 6*l ; steers, £4 ss. At the yards to-day 568 head were penned, and 149 sold —Fat bullocks, £5 10s to £7 ; cows, £4 15s ; cows and calves, £3 10s; 8-year-old bullocks, £4 7s 6d. Sheep—At Si Hill-street 1680 were penned, am) 1400 sold—-Fat ewes, ’heavy weight, 12s; fat wethers, 9s to 10s ; ewes, 8s to 8s 6d ; lambs in wool, 5s 4d. Pigs—Porkers, from 10s to 225, according to quality. Horses—No alteration in values. Exports—4o cattle and 250 sheep.
