The Wellington correspondent of a contemporary writes The non-restraint system of treatment in Lunatic Asylums, while undoubtedly humane as regards the patients themselves, and unquestionably a vast improvement on the Whitelaw method, is nevertheless attended with some drawbacks so far as the attendants are concerned. Three attendants at the Mount View Asylum have recently been severely injured by patients. One had his arm broken ; another had the sight of an eye destroyed, and a third had a finger nearly bitten off, so badly indeed that it had to be taken out of the socket.
