THE DUNEDIN RAILWAY ACCIDENT.
(per press association.) ' LATER PARTICULARS. DUNEDIN, Oct. 23rd Mr Dunbar, farmer of Waikouaiti, was the person who received injuries, to his logs by the railway accident on SaturdayHe was standing on the platform of the carriage, and fell between it and the engine. Two carriages received material damage, and two other carriages and the van also left the line ; but sustained no Ojtfamage beyond a little rough jolting, unusual was experienced by the occupants. Those who saw the accident say that the escape of passengers is most astonishing. The strongest woodwork was broken into splinters, and the ironwork and couplings were broken as if they were pieces of hoop-iron. Mrs Jane Finlayaon (of Blueskin) and her son were bruised and cur, but not seriously, and Mrs Proctor (of Blueskin) suffered from the shock. Some of the other passengers received slight cuts and bruises. At the spot where the train left the rails there was a bank of clay several feet high, and so far nothing which would suggest the cause of the accident has transpired. A gang of men were at once put to work to clear the line, and at 8 a.rn. on Sunday traffic was resumed.
