(To be incorporated under the Joint Stock Companies Act, 1860.)
CAPITAL £20,000 In 2000 Shares or £lO Each. To be paid as follows : 5s on application ; 10s on allotment ; and the balance by calls not exceeding 20s per share, at intervals of not less than three months. It is proposed to call up not more than half the capital in the first instance, the balance to be preserved for the extension of operations when required. Provisional, Directors. This Company is projected with the object of providing the means for the export of meat and Dairy Produce by the refrigeration or other process. The present intention is to prepare the Meat and Dairy Produce for shipment on owner’s account, and to arrange for the sale thereof in the London market. The Company has power either to purchase or ship on owner’s account, as may be found desirable, and also to control the sale as well as the freezing and Export of the Produce ; it being evident that a concentiation of interests is necessary in placing shipments on the markets until the trade has been developed. The Company propose to take an interest of £2OOO in a new steamer (which is to be built or purchased), containing a cooling chamber capable of stowing 1000 carcases. Tins will also materially benefit the trade between Wanganui and Wellington. The preparation and storage of Cheese and Butter for Export will become an important operation of the Company, and, as the market in England for these products is practically unlimited at prices showing 50 per cent, advance on Cheese and 100 per cent, on Butter over those current in the colony, an extensive export may be anticipated. The Company recognising this, will provide cool storage until a \esel is ready to receive it. The necessary appliances. for cool storage have been erected in the Docks at Home.
It is expected that the Company will pay a fair dividend on the outlay, as the following calculation will show ; —The estimated export per year is 50,000 carcases, averaging'72lbs each, which, at a cost of £d per lb for freezing, would give a yield of 3s per carcase. Taking onethird as the profit, it would amount to £2500, being interest on a capital of £20,000 at per cent. The Company therefore confidently relies on those who are directly or indirectly interested in developing the Grazing and Agricultural Interests of the District to assist in carrying out that which, if properly managed, cannot fail to be a profitable undertaking.
