INTERPRGYINCIAL. [Per Press Association.] DUNEDIN, Oct. 18. There was a discussion at the Episcopalian Synod this evening on a motion by the Rev. Mr Byng, and seconded by Archdeacon Edwards, affirming the desirability of a school for girls in connection with the Church of England being established. The mover stated that his special reason for bringing the motion forward was that the practice of sending girls to Roman Catholic Convent schools, as is largely followed in Dunedin, might be obviated. It was stated that some twelve cases were known in which girls had been proselytised to Roman Catholicism whilst attending these schools. All the speakers concurred in „the opinion that influence direct or indirect must be exercised towards proselyting in such schools, according to the well known tenets of the Roman Catholic Church. The motion was carried, and a committtee appointed to lake steps to carry it out. A motion was also carried affirming the desirability of doing away with the ten shilling fee for performing the marriage ceremony.
