The promoters of the Auckland Freezing Company have issued their prospectus, and shares are being well taken up, A complimentary address and purse of sovereigns are being got up for Sergt.Major Pardy on his removal. A curious case, Davis v. Davis, was decided in the Resident Magistrate's Court by Judge Mac Donald. Defendant was charged at the Criminal Sessions with alleged robbery of the money of plaintiff. Plaintiff’s wite swore she lent it to defendant, and he was acquitted. Plaintiff sued for .admin and £l7 lent to defendant by plaintiff’s wife. Judgment and costs were given to him. N API Ell, Oct. 12. Colonel Lambert, an old settler, and commander of the Volunteer and Militia forces during a portion of the native war, died this morning, aged 73. The Harbour Board is inviting competitive designs for harbour improvements. The plans will be submitted to a marine engineer in England, who will be rnominated by the Agent-General. The designs are to be sent in to the Board by January. WELLINGTON, Oct. 12. It is understood that the Government i have decided not to interfere with the ; sentence of a months’ imprisonment re- j cently passed on two young persons for indecent behaviour in the Botanical Gardens. The boating season will open on Saturday, should the weather prove favourable. [Nothing has been done by the Government with regard to the case of Adams, recently convicted of conspiracy,, because Mr Ollivier, solicitor for the defence, is tomorrow to move for a new trial.
