Courtney, M.P. for Liskeard, Cornwall, and Financial Secretary to the Treasury, addressed his constituents at Torpoint last night. In the course of his speech he referred at length to the Egyptian question, and stated his opinnn that Egypt must be required to defray all the expenses attending the suppression of the rebellion in that country. Later. Mr Courtney, in his speech at Torpoint yesterday, further stated that England’s policy was to detach Egypt from the suzerainty of the Sultan, and fo take steps to establish an European guarantee for the proper administration of the country, AUSTRALIAN. [Reuter —Copyright,] MELBOURNE, Oct. 13. Arrived, steamship Ringarooma from the Bluff, this morning. Alexander the Czar, Ericthoneous, Eva, Jim Tyson, Kohinoor, Scandal, and Taionara have been scratched for the Melbourne Cup. There are 32 acceptors for the Caulfield Cnp, to be run for to-morrow. Captain Morep and Lieutenant Darwin, a son of the deceased naturalist, leave here to-morrow for Queensland, to make arrangements for observing the transit of Venus. Captain Tupman, who is expected to arrive shortly, is going to New Zealand for a similar purpose.
