The barque Port Glasgow, which left here a few weeks ago for New Plymouth, with a quantity of water-pipes, arrived there all right, and discharged a number. However, some heavy weather came on, and the vessel had to put to sea, leaving two anchors and a quantity of cable. She returned to New Plymouth on Sunday last, and had to stand to sea again on Monday, owing to bad weather setting in. We learn by the Ilawea that it was rumoured in Taranaki the Port Glasgow struck in getting out, and that her false keel was carried away. It was thought she would steer for Wellington. On making - enquiries of the Wellington agents, they informed us they bad not beard anything about the vessel.— Post , Oct. 6. A QUICK PASSAGE. The steamship Stirling Castle, belonging to Messrs Thomas Skinner & Co., was docked at the Royal Albert Docks, London, at 4 p.m. on the 22nd Juno, haGng passed the lightship at the month of the Yangtse, 42 miles from Shanghai, at 3.45 a.m. on 23rd May, making the run, including all detentions, in 29 days 22 hours 15 minutes, or steaming lime, 27 days, 23 hours, 15 minutes, which beats the' best passage on iccord by about ten days. The distance from Shanghai to London is about 12,000 miles. The cargo, which was a little short of 6,000 tons, end the largest, according to tlie Marine Engineer, ever brought to England in one vessel, was worth over £1,000,000 sterling, and was discharged in the unprecedented short time of 30 hours.
