PATEA DISTRICT COURT.

This Day. (Before His Honor District Judge Rawson.) APPLICATIONS IN BANKRUPTCY. The applications made this afternoon, before Judge Hardcastle, resulted as follow :—W. A. Mead and A. Jones, adjourned till January; D. Kelly, H. Shanks, A. Brooks, M. J. Leahy, immediate discharge. Bush and Kendall.—ln this case Mr Bush was not present, but Mr Kendall was. The Judge : No dividend seems to have been paid in this case. How is that ? Mr Hamerton (advocate) said : There is the trustee’s report. The Judge : I see he attributes the failure to their taking a contract below its proper value. Mr Hamerton : Yes, they built the bank of New Zealand here, and lost heavily. The Judge : It is to be hoped you won’t again take a contract below its value. It js injurious to trade. There being no objection, an immediate order will- — Mr W. Smail, rising in Court, asked : May I be allowed to speak, your Honor. Mr Hamerton : Who is this person ? We don’t know who he is. I object to bis being heard. The Judge ; No, you cannot bo heard. If anybody wants to object, be should have filed a statement in Court, in proper form. The order of discharge will be granted in this case; \V, Kendall applied for discharge re his personal bankruptcy, apart from the

partnership. There being no opposition, the order was granted. 11. T. Bush, the other partner, could not apply to-day for discharge under his separate bankruptcy, he being out of town. The application was postponed till January, at Mr Hamerton’s request. - G. N. Baggett applied for and obtained immediate order of discharge. His application was not quite in order, as it did not state where he had resided or carried on business during the greater part of six months prior to bankruptcy. Leave was given to put in an affidavit to this effect before the Court closed.
