PATEA CRICKET CLUB.
A cricket match Town v Country will be played next Saturday, play commencing at 1-30 sharp. The following are names from which the Town Team will be chosen : Messrs Jacomb (captain), Taplin, Tennent, Harden’s (2), Dixon, J. Kitching, Doneghue, Redgrave, Waite, Whyte, Rose, Norman and Gibbons.—Country Team : Messrs Jacob (captain), Read, Arundell, Newton, Pulton, Whittem, Sheild, Hamilton, Nicholson, F. H. Horner, A. Gower, Corrigan, and T. Turner. The following new members were elected at a committee meeting held on Saturday, viz., Messrs Smart, H. Nicholson, F. H. Horner, Waite, and Fulton. The last named will prove a great acquisition to the club. A vote of thanks was accorded Mr Beere, for laying down or rather extending the cricket-pitch. He was also elected a member of-the Club for this season.
It was resolved “Thatthebat presented by Mr H. F. Christie for the best attendance at practices last season be acknowledged,” The bat will be presented when it is ascertained who is entitled to it.
