REORGANISATION OF VOLUNTEERS.
The Wellington Post learns on very good auth ori ty that .arrangements,are uowi in progress for the complete reorganisation: of the Vclbnteer Fotce of the colony, and’ in a few weeks many .of the companies at present in existence will be defunct.Tor a considerable time past a'large number of the corps have been in anything but an efficient state, although drawing considerable sums of money out of the colonial exchequer as capitation allowances, and in order to place the force on a more satisfactory basis, arrangements are now proceeding for its complete reorganisation. The various naval brigades throughout. New Zealand, are to be styled' the Royal Naval Artillery , Corps, and are to be ‘ numbered in point ol seniority. The maximum number of men in each company is to be fixed at 68, and the minimum at 48. Ad the corps are to be efficiently equipped, and will draw capitation at rale now in vogue. , ihe present intention of the gentlemen who are Sealing With the matter-is to place (he naval brigades in .’charge of the torpedo defences and permanent batteries, and to station them on the right of the line.
