Wanganui, Sept. 20Since my last I have held three sales. The attendance was good, and bidding at at Waverley and Hawera spirited. The number of stock offered was not as large as usual. At this season of the year sheep are represented by butchers’ requirements only, hardly any ewes or stores coming forward. Store cattle are in demand, and will advance in value as the spring grass comes, on. Beef is better worth, real prime quality* realising 17s 6d the 1001b at the market to-day; The special sale at Waverley drew a large attendance, every lot being cleared at the auction at satisfactory prices. I would draw attention to special lines of 450 bullocks to be offered at the next St. Hill street sale, and 640 head to be sold at Waverley early next month on account of Messrs Symea. Cattle. —At Waverley 281 head were sold. Cows and calves, £4 2s 6d ; cows, £3 17a 6d ; steers, £3 12s ; heifers in calf, £3 Is ; weaners, 38s to 51s each. At Hawera about 200 head were sold. Two-year-old steers, £3 15s and £3 17s 6d ; cows, £3 5s ; weaners, 355. At the y T ards to-day, 284 head were yarded. Fat bullocks, prime quality, £8 7s 6d to £9 Is ; cows, £4 15s to £5 ; steers, £4 ; store three-year-old bullocks, £5 7s 6d ; heifers, £3 6s ; cows, £3 2s 6d ; weaners, £2 4s ; 1 well-bred bull, £ls. Sheep. —At Waverley, 1711 were penned. Ewes, at lambing, lls ; old ewes, 6s 3d. At the yards to-day, fat wethers, 16s. Horses.—A small entry made up the lot. Hacks, £8 to £l3 ; unbroken draught, £2O 10s ; weeds and screws, £3 to £5. Exports. —so cattle, 1900 sheep.
