WAITARA RIVER IMPROVEMENTS-

Progress report by Mr Thomson, engineer to the Waftara Harbor Board, was read at Wednesday’s meeting, as follows ; The new punt for the dredge was almost completed. A large quantity of stone had been delivered at the training-avail, and he was of opinion that the work could be finished for the sum tendered for. Dredging was being proceeded with satisfactorily although they had met with several large snags, which had caused considerable dela}'. Willows had been planted on both sides of the river. He also recommended that the river bank above the bridge should be protected, and that the training-wall be commenced. Tenders might be invited at once for the supply of stone, which could be placed in position by labor.
