The Roman Catholic Cathedral at Sydney, was opened on Bth September with great ceremony. A large number of persons were present, including many dignitaries of the church. Service was performed by Archbishop Vaughan, assisted by the Bishops of Bathurst, Brisbane, Rockhampton, Maitland, Goulbourn, Wellington, and Armidale, and was rendered with a most imposing and beautiful effect by a choir of fully two hundred voices. The altar, which is of Oamaru stone, was the theme of general admiration.
