THE WAR IN EGYPT.
Plan of OperationsAlexandria, 28rd.—It has transpired that three regiments which were left as a garrison for this city are intended to act in concert with the mainbody of British troops now at Israaila. The second division, under the command of General Haniley, will advance against the enemy’s front, while the first division commanded by Sir Garnet Wolsely in person, will, after securing the canal as a base of operations, act against the enemy from the west. It is understood that the junction of the two forces will be effected in the neighborhood of Kafradowar, and a combined attack made upon Arabi’s entrenebmentt at that place. EXHIBITION FOR 1884. this day,— A proposal is afloat to hold an intercolonial exhibition in 1884 to celebrate the Jubilee of Victoria. Bank AmalgamationMelbourne, this day.—Joint Stock Bank and City of Melbourne Bank have amalgamated their business. Absconder from OamaruMelbourne, this day.—A warrant has now been signed for the extradition of Robert Warno, charged as an absconding bankrupt from Oamaru.
