The Canterbury Times says :—Mr Johnston, it is said, is to resign Public Works, and Mr E G. Wright is to assume Public Works in.his place. Mr Wright is dead against the Taranaki Breakwater, the Otago Central Railway, and uniform railway rates. Either he cannot be “ Works ” or he must go through the pro•css of deglutition, somewhat after the Pilliet example. Mr Wright, we think, will never be “ Works.” It is impossible for his faith and “ works ” to agree. A painful accident occurred at Pelorous Sound to a man named Alexander, the other day. He was putting some cattle into a punt, when one of the animals ran its horn up its nostrils, leaving a large wound between his eyes.
