Harbor Bye-laws. Amendments, Additions, and Alterations to the By-Laws of the Patea Harbor Board. IN pursuance of the 57th and 215 th sections of “ The ~Harbors Act, 1878,” the Patea Harbor Board, hereinafter called the Board, purpose making the following .Amendments and Alterations to the By-Laws of the Board now in force, for regulating' the use of the wharves, quays, landing stages, and other landing places, and generally to regulate the traffic on the same ; also to make by-laws for the conduct of business of the Board ; Clause 5 shall bo amended to read as follows : The Wharfinger shall provide all labor on the wharves (except at such wharves as may he erected by or with the consent of the Board for special purposes), and for loading and unloading (except for timber) beyond the assistance of the person in charge of the goods, and shall bo responsible for all goods in his custody. Clause 9 shall be amended to read ns follows: No goods shall ho allowed to remain on the wharves, or on the approaches thereto, or on the foreshore, beyond tin; time for which free storage is granted. It any goods so remain .without the consent of the Harbor Board, any person appointed by the Board for that purpose may remove the same to any of the premises of the Board or other convenient .place, and keep the same until payment to the Board of the expenses of such removal, and of the keeping of the goods; and if such expenses be not paid within seven days after demand thereof made uppn the owner, or if such owner cannot be found, or shall bo unknown, then after the Board shall have given public notice by advertisement at least once in each of throe consecutive weeks in some newspaper circulating at this port, the Board may sell such goods by public auction ; and out of the proceeds of such sale pay all dues and charges payable thereon, and the expenses of removal, and of the sale thereof; and .the surplus (if any) shall be rendered to the owner on demand. Schedule No. 1 Shall be altered to read as follows : Wharf Charges, including Labor and Storage for Twontv-fonr hours, (except Timber), the time to he computed from 5 p.m. of the day of delivery. Wool, Fungus, and Flax, per bale, Is 3d Coal, when in bags and trucked, 2s 6d per ton Coal, when taken from vessel’s side in bulk, 2s Horses, Bullocks, and other large animals, 3s Calves, under 1 year, 6d each Sheep, Pigs, and other small animals, 3d each Sheep, after the first fifty, each Carriages, Carts, and other Vehicles, being cargo, 4s each Timber, 100 superficial feet, 6d Shingles, per 1000, 2s 6d Palings, per 100, 10d Bricks and Slates, per 1000, 4s Hides, loose, each Hides, in sacks, 3s per ton Sheepskins, 6d per bundle 400-gallon Empty Tanks, 2s 6d each All other goods, weight or measurement, in packages not over one ton, 2s 6d per ton Any fractional parts of a ton, being more or less than one ton, shall be charged as follows: Not exceeding one-fifth, 6d; two-fifths, Is; threefifths, Is 6d ; four-fifths, 2s All other goods, weight or measurement, in packages over one ton and not exceeding two tons, at the rate of 3s per ton All other goods, weight or measurement, in packages over two tons, 7s 6d per ton Schedule No. 2 Shall bo amended as follows: Scale on which Wharf Charges shall he Calculated. Hogsheads, Beer or Spirits, as 3 to the ton 400-gallon Iron Tanks, when full, as 04 ft . Sheepskins—a bundle shall mean 20 skins Chaff (impressed) and Bran (in lour bushel sacks) 20 to the ton Rye-grass and Cocksfoot Seed, four bushel sacks, 15 to the ton Contents all other four bushel sacks 10 to the ton Small package, or packages landed from a vessel for one Consignee, and measuring in the aggregate less than onefifth of a ton, shall bo charged for as one-fifth of a ton
