This Afternoon Claim for Street AccidentAuckland.—J. Oxley, who was thrown from his horse over a heap of unspread road-metal in CuStom-House street, claims £4OO damages from the City Council. A Christchurch Levanter. Christchurch.—A small amount of sensation has been caused in town by the sudden departure ot Mr Alfred Thompson, solicitor, by the San Francisco mail boat. It was only discovered when all attempt to intercept him by telegraph was useless.
