NOMINATED IMMIGRATION.
The system of nominated immigration has again come to the fore, Government having recently decided to resume this method of increasing the population of the country, and already indications are apparent of the interest taken in the subject by colonists all over New Zealand, As most of our readers are aware, the sum of L 6, including LI for ship’s outfit, is all that is charged under this system for bringing able bodied men over from Great Britain, while for families and single women nothing whatever is charged beyond the Ll for bedding aad ship’s kit. Up till this morning over 140 nominations had been made for this district alone, 32 of which number were made to-day before noon, 20 being telegraphed from Jhe country. Turning to other districts, we learn that Auckland has sent in 86 nominations, Invercargill 47, Marlborough 15, Nelson and Hokitika 6 apiece, and Taranaki 5. No official information has yet been received from Ohristchurch or Dunedin, but they will probably send in about 400 more, so that in a very short time there will be more than enough nominations with which to commence operations.— Post.
