POLITICAL GOSSIP.

Reorganisation of Ministry.

There is a rumor that if no re-construc-tion takes place during the recess, a new organisation is to be formed to force a resignation, so as to make the Government reform. The leader is not yet selected. It may be Sir J. Hall, if he can be obtained and his health will permit. He appears quite restored, and the concern aroused by the sensational letter of Dr Grace appears now as if it had been more a political expedient than the actual state of the case warranted. I think it was the Cabinet that was “ sick nigh unto death,” and not the Premier. Sir J, Hall has hit out once or twice during the session, notably on the Land Bill and the claim of the railway employees, and made the Government wince. If he would take the lead I would not give much for the life of the Ministry ; it would be a very risky life to insure. By this it will appear that even if this session is made safe the future looks squally if reorganisation does not take place.—Cor. Tar. Herald.

Attack on the New Plymouth Harbor. On Wednesday Mr Watt again asked if the Government .intended to bring in a Is'ew Plymouth Harbor Commission Bill. In asking the question he proceeded, as usual, to introduce debateable matter, and was called to order by the Speaker, at the request of Mr Kelly. He wandered again and the Speaker interposed a second time. Finally Mr Watt sat down, with an aspect of dissatisfaction on his face that he could not let otf his prepared denunciation of the Hew Plymouth harbor. Mr Dick, with a beaming face, informed Mr Watt that the Government, did not intend to bring in a bill ; at which the visage of the hon. member for Wanganui lengthened materially.—Cor. Tar. Herald.
