Second Edition
Maps for tbe coming land sale on the Plains are not all ready, although the sale is advertised for the Bth September. Two blocks, in the contimions reserve* behind Manaia, being the 5,000 acres forfeited, will be much enquired for; yet maps of these blocks are not yet lithographed, and were not even “on the stone ” three days ago. This shows deplorable want of supervision. Three maps for the coming sale have reached us to-day, namely block XI at Kaupokonui, also the Oeo survey district, and the village settlement of Pihama.
Rangitikei river is to be crossed by a temporary bridge with broader spans than before, and the erection of the permanent bridge is to be commenced as soon as possible. Railway goods and passengers are being punted across, but this is a slow process. The timber traffic cannot be so easily provided for.
