TO THE “ MAIL.” 4. _ (per reutbr’s agency.) THE WAR IN EGYPT. MORE REINFORCEMENTS. Joint Occupation. DISTURBANCES IN THE INTERIOR. London, 22nd. —It is announced that Lieutennant-General Sir John Adye, Surveyor General .of Ordnance, has been appointed chief of the staff of the' British array in Egypt. Intelligence has been received that France has made b. proposal that Italy should co-operate in military operations in Egypt. It is deemed probable that England will acquiesce in this arrangement . Bombay, 22nd.—Two transports sailed to-day for Suez with detachments of troops for service in Egypt.
Alexandria, 21st.—Latest news from Kafradowar is to the effect that Arabi has further strengthened his position there. He has openly avowed his hostility to the English, with whom he says he will carry on war to the knife. Intelligence is to hand that further disturbances have occurred in the interior of the country, between natives and Europeans, and many more of the latter have been killed. There is general alarm among Europeans throughout the country. Arrears of Rent Bill. London, 21st.—In the House of Commons to-day the Arrears of Rent in Ireland Bill was again under consideration, and was read a third time and passed.
