TO THE “MAIL.” (I'EU UNITED TRESS ASSOCIATION.) Found Drowned. New Plymouth. —The dead body of a man was-found yesterday afternoon on the beach near the mouth of the Henui river. He was much disfigured. Ho has been recognised as John King. His parents are said to reside in Auckland, and he was wellknown at the Thames. Later.—At the inquest held on the body of John King this morning, it appeared deceased had been drinking heavily lately. Verdict of Found Drowned. EXPECTING- SIR JULIUS VOGEL. Invercargill,—A committee was appointed at a public meeting held on Saturday, to receive Sir Julius Vogel on his landing in the colony. A banquet was considered unnecessary. Some opposition was expressed at the meeting, one Town Councillor offering to half-a-crown to start Sir Julius again in business with a pack of cards. Invercargill, this day.—Members of the reception committee were in waiting this morning at the station, but Sir Julius Vogel did not arrive. Rumor of a seat. Dunedin.—Mr Driver intimates to the press that he is now free to attend to his Parliamentary duties, and denies any intention of resigning in Sir Julius Vogel’s favour.
