THE BAND $ OBSTRUCTION. I notice in the evening journal of Friday, some remarks re Band playing and obstructing a public thoroughfare. The report winds up with a remark that if the Mayor, who was present, had given his permission, there would not have been any further trouble. Be that as it may, the Mayor was -not even asked for permission, and had he been, Would have granted it at once, although in doing so he would most likely have been roughly treated by Councillors. It is not to be expected that any public official would grant permission without being asked. In conclusion, I might say that his Worship the Mayor offered to take an instrument, and take his chance as a Bandsman in the coming obstruction case) which I think is quite sufficient to prove to us that we have his sympathy. A. A. Gower, Sec. P.B. Band.
