PASTORAL LETTER.

To THE adherents of the Anglican Communion in and near Patea ;

My dear Parishioners, —An important church meeting is to take place in the Harmonic Hall on Wednesday evening next, July sth, at 7 o’clock, to which it is ray duty to call your special attentionI can scarcely think that any man or woman in good health, and expecting to obtain eternal life through Jesus Christ will show contempt for His Church, wilfully slighting both his Redeemer and his fellow Christians, by neglecting to interest himself and others in this meeting and the objects that occasion its assembling Plans for a new church will be submitted and other important Christian , interests considered. There may, however, be some whose religion is so utterly contemptible that they will concern themselves with these interests no more than the heathen might. I can only say to such that why the : Almighty has created any enemies to Jesus Christ is a mystery which we cannot expect to unveil on earth. It is on their account the more incumbent upon us who are gradualy passing away from earth, and who know but one perfect model wherewith to raise and bless our fellow-creatures, to do our utmost to exalt Him in the estimation of the youth and selfish infidelity of this land. We shall soon bequeath our farms and houses to others, and he is to be pitied who has found nothing else in' life to leave to those he loves. It has not yet been possible fox me to call upon you all ; it was ray wish to have done this, and to have solicited your attendance personally. Affectionately your curate, J. Lloyd Keating.
