POLICEMEN'S DUTY.
Last Saturday about 1-30 o’clock, a roan wko knocks about the country was seen Jggiikbathe'lßaddle off my Horse,
standing in Odgers’s hoid yard, and then pUt ! lie saddle on his own horse and ride away with rny property. He returned the saddle tho same afternoon, putting it back without saying anything;" When I learnt wb£|t had been done, I asked a constable to arrest the map for stealing the saddle. The constable refused to do anything, although I had two witnesses of the theft. I; would like to know whether the constable was- doing his duty by refusing to take up the case. He only said I should summon the man. If is not usual to summon a man:for stealing. Thomas Scown. ' Woodville.
