PAINFUL ACCIDENT.

A serious injury, which may terminate fatally, has happened to one of Mr W. Derrett’s sons, who is parser on the Grafton steamer. A telegram was received yesterday by Mr Derrett from Oamarn staling that bis son had been removed ta the hospital there, and that he was not expected to recover. The nature of the injury was not stated. A second telegram this morning from the doctor says the patient was still sleeping, but there was no hope of his recovery. He is supposed to have been injured on the steamer. A later telegram says that Charles Derrett was knocked down and dreadfully injured by trucks on the breakwater at Oamarn. Mr W. Derret left Patea this afternoon by the Wakatu for Wellington, on his way to Oamarn.
