RAWERA.

(PROM OUR CORR B8 POND ENT.)

An entertainment in aid of the funds of the Hawera Drill Shed will be given next week by our Amateur Dramatic Club, The pieces are “Meg’s Diversion’’ and “ Should this meet the eye.” The volunteers are using every effort to make the affair a success. There is also to be an entertainment next week in aid of funds of the Weslcj'an Church, (he programme is not out yet, but I have no doubt it will be as attractive as ever.

The meeting of the Acclimatization Society on Friday ought to be represented by some members from your end, to put before the meeting the views of tho Patea settlers. I am confident the socio*y will be glad to meet the Patea peopl'w in anything they may propose with reference to that part of the district; and I think you could not do better than hold a meeting and recommend a committee to act in conjunction with the members at this end. Mr George Bayly had rather a bad accident last week. He was riding home, and when opposite Mr Lysaght’s the horse became restive, and in holding him the bit snapped and the horse bolted. Mr Bayly had no power of stopping him, so ho thought the wisest way would be to jump off, which he did, sustaining severe bruises and cuts about the face, and also dislocating his wrist. However, I am glad to say that the shaking has only done him temporary injury, and we hope to have him among us again in a few days. *
