This Afternoon.

A Comet. Christchurch.—A comet was visible here last night.

Damage to s.s. WestportLyttelton.—The s.s. Westport arrived at Lyttelton yesterday. After being floated, another leak was discovered in her hold, but there was no trouble in keeping the water down. All the damage is in the forward part of the vessel.

CAPTAINS CENSURED Wellington. The assessors gave judgment in the collision of schooner E. and U. Cameron of Lyttelton, and the steamer Clyde, at mouth of Wanganui river; the judgment blaming both captains, and censured Captain Bonnor of the Clyde. Certificates to be returned, and costs paid equally by each captain.
