The following estimate of receipts and expenditure was laid before the Borough Council last evening, with a view to striking a rate at nextjmeeting.
ESTIMATED INCOME. Cash in hand, £6 10s ; general rate, Is in the, pound, £427 16s; rents, including arrears last Year, £350 ; dog tax, £SO; licenses publicans £2OO, - auctioneers £l2O, sundries £6O; fines, &c., £ls; amount , due from County Councilj'£6o ; subsidy at 7s 6d in the pound, £l6O 8s 6d; anticipated necessary increase of overdraft, £244 13s Id. Total, £1,694 7s 7d. ESTIMATED EXPENDITURE. Overdraft, bank of N.Z., £53 Is 7d ; salaries, including _ Engineer, £420; valuation, £lO ; Auditors, £6 6s ; advertising, £75 ; printing and stationery, £ls ; contracts, streets and paths, £450 ; gravel cartage, £220; day labor, £2lO ; Engineer’s labor, £100; plant and tools, £3O ; interest and overdraft, £3O; contingencies, £75. Total, £1,694 7s 7d.
