i EAILWAY BRIDGE DESTROYED. .Early on Friday morning- -a heavy fresh occurred in Rnngitikei river, by which the approaches to the Kakariki railway, bridge were undermined, and eventually carried, away ; interrupting railway traffic. The train approaching from Palmerston had to be stopped. Mr Rotheram, ; railway manager, posted off to ascertain the damage. Passengers from the south were brought to Wanganui by the : train which conveyed the manager and engineer to the sßene in the-morning. While repairs are being effected to the bridge as speedily as possible a boat will be provided for the transfer of passengers ; across the river.
