This Afternoon. DEATH OF~GARIBALDIRome, 3rd. -r The death of General Garibaldi, at the age of 75 years, is reported from Caprera. Fatal Accidents. Sydney, this day.—Two fatal accidents occurred on Saturday. A man was killed on the Botany Bay tramway line, and two men were drowned by the capsizing of a boat in the harbor. ■ Australian Cricket VictoryLondon, 3rd.—The cricket match Australians Y. Lancashire was resumed at Manchester to-day. There was a largo attendance, and the greatest interest was taken in the match. The weather was showery, and the wicket keeping was consequently not -so lively as yesterday. Lancashire men resumed their second innings with 7 wickets down for and the remainder fell for 66, making a total of 269 ; leaving - the Australians 129 runs to get to win. These' they'obtained for the loss of 6 wickets, and, the Australians thus scored a victory by 4 wickets. The bowling of Englishmen was dead, on the wicket, and their fielding was excellent. >ln their second innings Barlow made the top score with 67.

' Politics in Victoria Melbourne, this day.—The' Treasurer’s recent Budget Statement,; is receiving much unfavorable criticism, especially in regard to the proposed remission of taxation. The Argus urges Sir Bryan O’Loghlen to partially abandon his proposal. ' :
