School Affairs at Manutahi.
Mr Christie having protested against irregularities in electing the School Committee, Messrs Coutts and Bridge were deputed to enquire into the alleged irregularities. They reported to the Education Board on Tuesday that Mr Corrigan and his son had both voted at the election, the son being a bachelor re- ; siding with his .father. Messrs Ginger brothers both occupied the same house; and it appeared that Mr J. G. Ginger’s name was on ibo valuation roll as occupier, while Mr D. Ginger was the owner. Both, however, were members of the School Committee. Mr Bridge said Mr J. G. Ginger being the householder was the only one of the brothers who could vote. Mr Coutts said the case of Mr Corrigan’s son was enough to upset the election. The Board resolved, on the motion of Mr Bridge, that the secretary be instructed to take Steps for a fresh election of School Committee. Mise Hay, teacher of the school, sent in her resignation, with a letter replying to some complaints respecting her management of the school. The election of a new Committee is notified for Saturday evening, the 17th. instant.
