PARTY DIVISION.

.The first party division of the session took place oyer the appointment of Chairman of Committee—that is, the deputy Speaker who presides when the House goes into the stage of committee. Major Atkinson proposed Mr Hamlin, a moderate man outside the Government party. The Qppposition candidate was Mr Thompson.
