CHAMPION ROWING MATCH.

London, May I.—The match between’ Trickett.aud Han]an was rowed to-day on the Thames. Hanlan won by four lengths. Hanlan’s victory over ’Tficket t was one of the easiest that cau be imagined. He stopped three times during the race, and literally “ played” with Trickett. The weather was veiy fine. The 'sun "was shining brightly, and the water-was perfectly smooth, ' Large crowds of people witnessed the contest from the hanks of the river all along the course.

MASSACRE AT THE ISLANDS

. Sydney, 2nd.—A labour rigent, mate, and crew of the brig Janet Stewart have been murdered by natives of the Solomon Islands, who afterwards plundered and set fire to the vessel. The captain was absent on a recruiting trip at the time, and escaped. , .. .. ;

Cairo, Ist.—A court martial has found that the 'ex-Khedive,'’ Ismail Pasha, had incited theGirCassian officers to murder the Minister of’War. The ex-Khedive’s pension will he slopped.

Cloture in Parliament.
