THE DOCTOR AGAIN!

I see ymu are making it warm for the doctor again. He would not help the sufferers in the coach accident, wouldn’t ho? I’ll tell you what—it is time to settle old scores with a doctor like that, and drum him out of the place. I could not believe his conduct was quite so bad, until I enquired for myself ; and all I can say is (hat you let him off too easily by saying that “ at first he was unwilling to attend any' patient unless brought to his surgery.” Hang such a doctor, say I, The idea of expecting' people who' were hurt in a coach accident to be carried to bis surgery, nearly a mile ! I never beard of such heartless conduct in any other doctor. But the people in this town have learnt to expect such cruel indifference from one whose profession ought to make him a friend of humanity'. Old Resident. DELAYED ACCOUNTS. Can, you inform me why' the Patea County Council will not pay their accounts promptly', instead of putting tradesmen off monlh after month ? If it is the fault of the newly appointed Treasurer, the sooner he is shifted the better.—Yours, &c., , John Jones.

THE COACH ACCIDENT. In y'our report of the coach accident you state that Mr Wyllie (.which should have been Mr Smiley 7, of Wanganui) tugged, at the wrong rein, causing' the horses to swerve over the embankment. Allow me to correct you, as the only' possible witness of the affair. Mr Smiley grasped the right reins to prevent them going over, and it is mainly owing to his and the driver’s exertions that, the accident was not more serious, for had they not held on to the reins, the horses might have gone on dragging the upset coach, and goodness only' knows what tho result would, have been. Too much praise cannot be bestowed on Mr Smiley' and the driver for their presence of mind on the occasion.— Yours, &c., ! W, 11, E. Wanklyn.
