Melbourne, 22nd. The firms of Meadway & Bell and David Masterton, of this city, Have become insolvent, and its* apprehended that other mercantile houses wifi shortly be compelled to suspend payment. ,

Melbourne, 23rd. A case of attempted murder and suicide occurred to-day. in Russell-sti;eet. A. Hungarian named Lieher shot at and dangerously wounded a, barmaid, and subsequently killed himself.' Th6.crime is attributed to jealousy.
