Railway to go Inland.
We have reason to believe that the railway northward from Manntahi will go by a new inland rente, of which a preliminary survey is just completed. We cannot say whether the official recommendation is in favor of carrying the main line on to connect at .Normanby, or whether it will connect at Hawera. The route previously surveyed near the lihe of main road to Hawera is found ranch more: expensive than the new route just surveyed farther inland. There will not be much if any heavy tunnelling, as there would be on the route previously intended. -
