Second Edition The Stranded Steamer.

New blades have been fixed on the starboard side of the Patea steamer, and she is now fit to take the water for steering purposes. The steamer remains quite safe, in her first position on the mud under the north head, and the absence of strong wind is in her favor. An anchor has been fixed seaward as far as the depth would admit, and a hawser is attached for drawing the steamer into deep water at high tide. This plan of getting her off was tried yesterday, but failed, the tide not rising high enough. The tides are now increasing daily, and with the screw repaired there is a good prospect of getting her off within two or three days. The Wakatu may assist as a tug, and she is now on the return voyage to this port.
