SALE OF A LEASE. Referring to a statement in last Saturday’s issue about the lease of a property I now offer for sale, I beg to state that Mr ‘McKenna’s lease will expire in or about 6 months’ time, at the same rental. I offer for sale the goodwill of my lease and the buildings thereon, 17 years to run, at the rental bf' v £l2 per '■‘antfuih. : 'Mr McKenna seems to make it appear, that he has a long lease of the premises, which might prevent me from selling. Kindly, make it clear.—Yours, &c., ; , : - J.. A. Hougubz. [Advt.] ,' ■ ; ,

THE WELLINGTON ASYLUM.

I think it my duty, to write you, as there is an impression in the minds of the public in country districts that patients have not been kindly treated :in the Wellington, asylum. I have visited it: lately almost daily, on account of my wife being a patient there, and I can assure the public that it deserves great credit, that every patient, seems,, to be happy there, and everything is kept regular and clean. I am now satisfied it is a great mistake for Such patients to be kept at home instead of sending them here for skilful treatment and nursing. lam sorry I did not take my wife there nine months ago. No doubt she would have recovered long before this, and saved me expense and trouble. ■ .1

There are two classes of patients : the paid and the unpaid. The paid have a good drawing-room, with flowers on stands ; and the meals are substantial and good. Dr King, the superintendent, is kind to patients, and they take touch to him. The nurses are kind, and particularly the matron, Miss Moffatt, All kinds of ! amusements.are provided. A band plays ■ there, every Saturday afternoon ;- and a concert and dance are held every Tuesday, all admitted free. The concert room and stage are well fitted. The stage has good scenery; and the patients can amuse: themselves all day if they choose in the 1 concert room with the piano and harrao-1 mum. A good billiard table is kept on : the premises. They are now erecting a balcony over the verandah with openings from inside, in case of fire. My wife, has been a patient nearly four weeks,' and speaks highly of the place and its management. Everyone dresses well, according to means and fancy. On the men’s side the attendants are kind and obliging. I told them I would send these particulars' to the Patea Mail, as I think the asylum should have a good nam*. There is a fine i library, and all periodicals of the day. ■ Visitors are allowed in on Sunday’ and' Thursday, but any friend who has .a_ patient can go at any time.—Yours &c., - J. A. Hougukz. ;
