C. F. BARKER’S AUCTION SALE REPORT.
I held a clearing sale of Mr A. G, Saunders’s stock, crops, implements, and furniture on Monday last. The attendance was the largest ever seen at a sale upon the Coast, buyers attending from Wanga* nui, Manaia, and Hawera. The bidding was very brisk throughout, and the condi tion in which each lot was placed before the public reflected great credit upon the owner especially a line of 2,000 bushels of rye-grass seed, in first-class condition, for which there was considerable competition.
The prices obtained were as follows ; Cattle. —2-year-old steers £2 15s, 2-year-old heifers £2 10s, milking cows from £5 7s6d to £lO ; calves 10s to £l. Sheep.— Ewes 7s to 7s lOd ; wethers 10s 6d ; lambs 5s 3d. Horses.— Buggy horses £l6 to £3B ; Hacks £l2 to £25 4s. Oats.— White Tartarian 3s, black Tartarian 3s Id, mixed 2s 9d. Wheat.—4s. Rye-Grass Seed.— ss 6d to 6s 3d per bushel. Carrots 3s to 4s per sack. The furniture, which was good and in first-class condition, realised prices most satisfactory.
