Friday, before, his Worship the Mayor and H. S. Peacock, J. P. BREACHES OF BYE-LAWS. H; Goodacre, bootmaker, was charged by the police with a breach of the borough bye-law, by. lighting a fire behind his premises without permission from the Nuisance Inspector. Defendant pleaded that he was hot aware of the fire, until told by the police, and then, put it out. The Bench dismissed this case with a caution, this being the first breach of the kind. .
K. Aldridge, butcher, was fined Is and 7s costs for allowing a horse to wander in the main street.
Nicholas Brown was fined 20s and 7s costs for leaving a horse and cart in the public street. He did not appear to the summons. DEBT CASES. Quillinan v. Douglas, express-driver, was a claim for care and feed of horse. Verdict for amount and costs, £5 10s. Mrs Mary Jane O’Sullivan had sum-, mohed a number of persons for debts due to her "late,', husband’s' bakery business. Some confessed judgment.* Those who disputed the claims had their cases, postponed, to enable Mr Hamerton, her solicitor, to obtain evidence'from the plaintiff (now in Taranaki gaol) as to the indebtedness. '
