HOOGHLY RAILWAY BRIDGE.

It is announced that the building of the long-projected railway bridge over the Hooghly is to be begun immediately. A site has been fixed at Chinsura, about twenty miles from Calcutta. The bridge will consist of three wroughtiroti girders, each 400 feet long, and strengthened by a curved boom. The cost will be £275,000 and will be borne by the Government. The work will occupy three or four years. When finished it will enable the East Indian railway to run right into Calcutta.
