Major Nixon’s House Burnt.
Wanganui.—Major Nixon’s house at Sedgebrook, near Wanganui, was destroyed by fire this morning. Major Nixon is an invalid, but escaped by having gone into the garden. A portion of the'furniture is saved, but the library containing money, valuable books, and Maori curios is lost. The house was insured for L 1,000 ; fnrniture uninsured.
