PATEA RM. COURT. (Before H. F. Turner, and R. C. Tennent, Esqs., J.P. : RESCUING HORSES. Archibald Jardine charged Daniel Skelly,. contractor, Kakaramea, on information,' with a breach -of the' Cattle Impounding Ordinance in rescuing horses which had been lawfully seized whilst they were being driven to the pound. Mr Barton appeared, fori the informant, and : Mr; Hamerton for the defendant. Complainant stated the horses had trespassed on his land, and were being driven to the pound on the 29th February, when they were rescued by Skelly. Mr Hamerton contended that Patea pound was not a legal pound, as it was now under the Patea Borough Council, but no bye-laws been passed for managing the same, ' After evidence Had been heard, the defendant was fined 40s, and costs 85s. CIVIL CASE. Ball v. Prouse & Howe—claim, £6 for detention of sheep. Mr Barton appeared for plaintiff; Mr Hamerton for defendant. Case adjourned on application of Mr Hamerton to 81st March, for the production of a witness for the defence.
