AUSTRALASIAN RIFLE TROPHY.
The South Australian Rifle Association proposed a few months ago that an
annual match for a challenge trophy should be fired between the marksmen of the colonies of South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania, Western Australia, and New Zealand. Amongst the conditions they drew up, however, were that the ranges should be at 200, 300, 500, and 600 yards, and that the back position should not be allowed. The council of the Victorian Association objected to these conditions, and declined to take part in the proposal. A further communication on the subject has been received from South Australia, with the request that the matter might receive further consideration.
